Phil Allocco - Writer/Director
Phil joined Red Thread Productions in early 2005 and produced and edited The Best of the GLAAD Awards for Logo. From 2003 to 2004 Allocco was the associate producer, segment director and editor of the TV series Repo Men "Stealing for a Living" on TLC starring Vincent Pastore. He was also the associate producer of “The Talent Collector” for AMC and helped pitch and develop the show.
Allocco has written & directed several short films including
Delivered which won "Best Comedic Short" and was nominated for "Best Short" and at the International Festival of Cinema and Technology's 2004 World Tour. It was also nominated for the Grand Jury Award at The Bare Bones International Film Festival. His short screenplay Joseph Henry was a finalist in the Cyclone Entertainment Groups Eighth Annual Screenwriters Project and The Bare Bones Script-2-Screen Fest. His latest short film “The Mirror" will be screening at festivals in 2005 and the feature script “The Mirror” was a finalist in The 9th Annual Fade In Awards, The Indiefest Film Festival Chicago and recieved honerable mention at Cinequest Film Festival. In 2003 Allocco co-wrote “Between the Cracks," which is currently in development with LaSalle/Holland. Kyra Sedgwick is attached to play the role of Lizzy and her real life brother Rob Sedgwick will play her fictional brother Scott.
With an extensive background in the visual arts, new media, and music, Allocco began his career as a musician and singer/songwriter. He was the driving force behind two bands that were under contract with MCA and Def Jam/Mercury records. Law and Order released two international records with MCA, Guilty of innocence, 1988 and Rites of Passage, 1992, and toured with acts such as Pearl Jam and Blind Melon. In 1989, after Law and Order hosted 30 writers at a national press conference in Memphis, TN, Allocco was awarded honorary citizen and given the key to the city.
In 1995 Dogma was signed to Def Jam/Mercury and released Feeding the Future in 1997. Both bands toured the US and Europe, and had several songs reach top ten on college radio. Allocco performed in, and helped develop five music videos, three of which appeared on MTV, where he made several guest appearances.
In 1997 Allocco joined Media Jelly and produced and designed numerous acclaimed new media projects, as well as some of the Web's most popular and award-winning destinations, including Goosebumps, The Magic School Bus, and Foxs Dr. Dolittle2. As a writer, illustrator, and Flash animator he created original content, developed characters, treatments, storyboards and series bibles. Allocco was also the creator of several original animated series including The Vanderfuls, and Bratface and Waffle.
